Theory & Practice of Classical Mysore Style Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
Mysore is a city in South India. In Mysore co-founder of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga K. Pattabhi Jois taught yoga for 70 years. The method he taught “Mysore style” is unique in it is a self paced, self practice where each practioner memorizes the sequence of postures w/ Vinyasa linking breath & movement at their own pace. It is different than a led class where participants are led through the sequence together at the same pace. Come experience this transformative tradition the way it was meant to be taught.
Shane Scaglione teaches a breath & alignment based Ashtanga Vinyasa inspired class that is tailored to the individual, making the rigorous practice accessible to most everyone.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a simple yet profound hatha yoga tradition that was taught by Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009) for 70 years in his home in Mysore, India. Ashtanga is a daily practice synchronizing the breath w/ a series of asana or postures.
Shane studied for many years traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga w/ Richard Freeman & his wife Mary Taylor in Boulder, CO eventually teaching at their studio. He spent many years abroad in India including extensive studies w/ senior Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher Rolf Naujokat & his wife Marci in Goa.
